That’s how the Tarrytown Music Hall billed their January 1 show with headliner Gregg Allman, and it didn’t disappoint. Jamoie’s Jasssz Band opened — blues, R&B and so much more; we’re used to seeing him on percussion with the Allmans but this band is a treat!
“Leave My Blues at Home” opened Gregg’s set, followed by “I’m No Angel”. The set also included a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Just Like a Woman”, and Bobby Bland’s “Turn On Your Love Light” (which many folks know from The Grateful Dead’s versions) as well as tunes from his new CD “Low Country Blues”. Floyd Miles sat in on a couple tunes, including “Born Under a Bad Sign” and “Goin’ Back to Daytona”.
Allman staples rounded out the set including fan favorites of “Dreams” and “Whippin’ Post” (with Gregg on guitar). Certainly was a tasty appetizer for March Madness at The Beacon…
